My Honest Opinion On Body-Positive Weight Loss...

This may be controversial, but I believe you can be body positive, an advocate for self-love, AND want to improve your health, create definition, find more strength, & feel lighter. 

The trick is to find the “why” behind your goal. Is it to please some sort of external force or to find more self-worth? If so - then you may need to come up with a different approach. (But keep reading, I’ll tell you more later in the post.)

But if your “why” is to feel more connected, more embodied, more confident, more yourself... then you’re right on track. 

I constantly have to remind myself, and my clients, that self-love is a journey and a practice. AND when you decide that you want to make a change in your body - intention. is. everything. 

If your “why” is due to external forces or a lack of self-worth, then an easy way to move past these limiting beliefs is to START with the goal of self-love, knowing that some of the best ways to cultivate self-love include living a healthy & BALANCED lifestyle, nourishing your body and soul, and most importantly LISTENING to your body. This is key.

After you’re able to get through a period of becoming more in tune with your body’s needs, you will begin to relax into a healthier mindset and relationship to your body and food.

Then, and only then, you can look at creating specific change. This time it will not be by fad diet, by overexercising, or to please anyone other than yourself. 

You will know how to get there - because you know and respect your body more than anyone else.
